August has come and gone. It was hotter than hot. There was a hurricane! And rain! And a smile. Local Altadena historian Elizabeth Pomeroy stopped by to say hello. She’s the smiling author of “Lost and Found II” a book chronicling the many sights and sounds of historic Altadena. Author Elizabeth, thanks for including a chapter featuring our very own Mountain View Cemetery.

After the rain, those blue skies made us remember our wonderful Southern California weather that blesses our historic grounds. We had a few days of cleaning up broken branches and many loose leaves, but our here-at-sunrise grounds guys had Mountain View back to her sweetheart self.
Every day, our families and out-of-town visitors compliment the look of our cemetery. Thanks Grounds Guys.

Our Valley View area has many trees and many markers that give our visitors an idea of our history, dating back to 1882. It may be our most popular area for new family arrivals. It seems that our migrating birds have a special affection for our Valley streets and walks. Walk and pause for a moment and listen to our birds. Look up and see our neighbor, the San Gabriel Mountains. It’s quite awesome.

Adjoining our Valley area is our mausoleum, Vista Del Monte, the home of our outside service area and is small and intimate for family services with a breath-taking view. Stop by and take a walk around Vista Del Monte.

Her name is Zelda and she’s our latest little Mountain View sweetheart. Congratulations to Dad, O2, our Mountain View IT go-to-guy, Mom Kim and Grandpa Oscar. Can’t wait to give little Zelda a cuddle. It’s September! Saluting our LA El Segungo Little League baseball champs! Go Dodgers!
