November-2024 Looking out the window here at Mountain View once again

16 Nov 2024

  • It’s November and fall in in the air. Halloween has come and gone, and it was another fun day and early evening. We smiled as we saw the usual suspects as they did their treat and treating here in scenic Altadena. The look for Halloween 2024 seemed to be quite Marvelous. Marvelous like in Spider-Man.

  • There’s no better way to celebrate that hint of fall in the air than a walk through our Mother Mausoleum on Marengo Avenue. Stained Glass. Oil Paintings. Art. Architecture. History. Bring a friend. We’re open 7 Days. It’s an exciting time. One could almost sing Hallelujah! Recent events have included tours, dancing, and a movie screening. Stay tuned for more and more of our community outreach.

  • There’s quite a story just through our Fair Oaks Avenue gate. On the left you’ll see the upright marker of a Mr. Porter. He passed away in 1882. It was the same year that we opened our doors to our Altadena and Pasadena families. It was the same year that cave-dwelling outlaw Jesse James was killed in Missouri. It may be time to Google Mr. Porter, resting here at Mountain View.

  • Those fall colors are in full bloom here at Mountain View. Take a healthy walk in our scenic Sunset Lawn North area near our Fair Oaks gate. Veteran’s Day on November 11th was a special day here, as always. As they always say, bring a bottle of water and make sure you stay hydrated. On your walking adventure, you may even see our only upright wooden grave marker!

  • Thanksgiving 2024 is a time for travel and visiting. A time for sharing stories and recipes with family and friends. Nothing says the spirit of Thanksgiving like that classic nostalgic picture of Americana as captured by artist Norman Rockwell.

Happy Thanksgiving! What a World Series! Congratulations Dodgers!

Till we look out the window here at Mountain View once again…
