March-Looking out the window here at Mountain View once again

Spring is here. There could be no better way to celebrate Spring and Woman’s History Month, than by stopping by and paying respects to Emma Bangs, Inn Keeper and entrepreneur. Pasadena tourists flocked to her early Vista Del Arroyo Hotel that she later renamed The Emma Bangs Boarding House, now the site of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Emma was one of a kind. Ahead of the curve. A Renaissance woman.

Was talking with a lady visitor to our Mountain View Cemetery just the other day. Visiting a family grave. It was raining. Cats and dogs. She mentioned that our grounds, aided and abetted by all the rain, looked very much like Ireland. Here at Mountain View we joined in the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day as dozens of Irish families stopped by and placed flowers on family graves. March 17th was and always is a special day here at Mountain View.

March 14th was another day to remember. It was PI Day and yes it was a time for academics to smile. A day that celebrates all levels of mathematics from algebra to trigonometry. Even meal discounts were being offered to recognize the perfect circumference of a pizza! Naturally, local Pi students stopped by to honor our favorite physics teacher and mentor, Caltech’s Professor Richard Feynman.

As you drive through our Fair Oaks Gate, you pass through history. Our first family remains were placed to rest back in 1882. It’s known as Sunset Lawn North and those recent March rains have made it even more beautiful than normal. Stop by and say hello to our lush green grass and historical markers. There’s even a wooden upright marker from way back in 1904.

Spring is here in all her glory. Take a stroll through our Fair Oaks parking lot and enjoy all the White Roses. It’s all possible thanks to our early-to-rise grounds keepers. Take a walk. Bring a friend. There’s nothing like a White Rose to bring a Springtime smile. Go Dodgers!
Till we look out the window here at Mountain View once again…
