The magic month of March has arrived. With the arrival of March, we celebrate Women’s Month. One needs to look no further than our Windsong Lane area. You’ll find Margaret V. Longley, an early businesswoman and Suffragette.
Margaret Longley mastered the new Remington typewriter and taught others how to parlay their evolving office skills in an arena dominated by men. It’s quite a tale.

March 14th is the day that the Math & Physics majors celebrate the magic of Pi. There’s no more respected teacher than Professor Richard Feynman to help honor the magic of Math and the Magic of Pi. What a story!
His life journey took him from MIT to Los Alamos to Caltech. He was awarded a Nobel Prize and inspired The Big Bang Theory on TV. Professor Feynman’s resting place here at Mountain View is the most requested grave location for visiting and for paying respects.

March celebrates March 17th. Walking through our scenic Mountain View Cemetery one notices the generations of Irish resting here. As we applaud St. Patrick’s Day and the ‘Luck of the Irish’ we are not alone. Irish family names are quite prominent from Sunset Lawn to Sunrise Terrace and across all our streets and avenues.
The Shamrock is etched into many of the Irish grave markers and symbolizes the Emerald Isle in all her green and in all her glory.

As you walk through our cemetery grounds, as you look north, you’ll see quite a sight. It’s the mountains and the view looking north that inspires many a minister to look and speak the Good News of our Altadena natural blessings that grace our Mountain View cemetery.
Bible stories and Proverbs always talk about the faith of the mustard seed and the mountain. You know the story well.
Here at Mountain View, that story is told and retold every few days by clergy. It’s a story that never grows old. Like the timeless mountains looking down on our cemetery.

Mother California has welcomed Spring here in this month of March. With all the flowers and over 200 hundred species of trees, a walk through our Mountain View meadows is a wonderful way to kick-start your morning. Bring some H2O and a smile and a friend. Or two. History rests here. We’re open Seven Days. If this is your first visit, welcome.
We raise Old Glory every morning and we lower her every evening. It reminds us of the many veterans that rest here at Mountain View. It also reminds us of the sacrifices of all the veterans and all their loving, supportive families. Army. Navy. Air Force. Marines. We salute you.
Till we look out the window here at Mountain View once again…
