June-Looking out the window here at Mountain View once again

The magic month of June has arrived. June means many wonderful things. Flowers. Summer walks. Summer talks. We always welcome new visitors and especially out-of-town tourists to our more than sixty acres of history. Greeting our visitors at our Fair Oaks Gate is our cemetery sign with colors by Sammy, our Top Gun, artist of flowers.

As you enter our Fair Oaks Gate, your history lesson begins. Just through the cemetery gate, as you walk to the right, you’ll notice a white marble upright marker, inside our Sunset Lawn area. It’s the resting place for the Murray family. Emeretta married W.W. Murray and passed away at the now early age of forty-five. It was before modern wonderdrugs blessed us with longer lives. Your Google research completes their story. Read. Wonder. Have fun.

Inside our Mountain View Cemetery and close to our Vista Del Monte mausoleum, there’s a sweet turn in the road, revealing a Jacaranda, late blooming between the trees. Those purple buds that drop on the grass can be a bother, but they add to the beauty and legacy of those awesome Jacaranda trees in all their May-June summer glory.

Celebrating Juneteenth is easy. More than just a walk in the park. It’s a time for music. Absolutely, a time to dance. Our Johnny Otis was and always will be The Man of music and dance. His song “Willy and the Hand-Jive” rocked our world in the 50’s and nowadays is still making us smile and dance on YouTube.

Bordering our Mountain View Cemetery is a row of always green Hedges that add style and substance to our neighborly boundaries. Alongside that hedge are dozens of red, pink and white roses. Maybe it’s time to take a walk and as they say, Smell the Roses. Happy Summer 2022. Go Dodgers!
Till we look out the window here at Mountain View once again…
