July-2023 Looking out the window here at Mountain View once again

June has come and gone, and July is here. Our Fair Oaks gates have been open almost forever. Since 1882. Open to history types. Genealogy students. Scholars. Long-lost relatives. And everyone that is interested in the past and in the future. Guessing that means just about everyone.

July 4th was and always is a celebration of our United States of America. Celebrating the Birth of Our Nation. Flags were flying and families were stopping by to say hello. Some were placing flags. Most were smiling. Maybe it was because our June gloom seems to be over. Maybe it was our California sunshine.

Nothing says June into July like our beloved Southern California Jacaranda trees. Their beautiful spirit and presence are with us once a year and for almost a month. Time to honor our purple ladies.

Summer is the time for walks & talks in our historic cemetery. Maybe you’ll talk about family history. Or maybe about the cool breezes. Or our wonderful shade trees that shelter your walking path through history. It’s all here and ready for your visit. Bring a bottle of cool water. Hydration is the H word to remember. Always.

Where’s the coolest place in town during our hot and almost Dog Days of July? Inside our Mother Mausoleum on Marengo Avenue. When we say cool, we mean cool. The architecture. The Stained-Glass. The solitude. It’s all here. As temperatures rise, if anyone asks how you are keeping your July 23 cool, give them our address: 2300 Marengo Avenue. Right here in scenic Altadena. Open 7 Days.
As summer swings into full bloom, our Mountain View mantra is always: Go Dodgers!
Till we look out the window here at Mountain View once again…
